Renting an RV from Keflavík offers unparalleled freedom to explore Iceland's dramatic landscapes at your own pace. With your transportation and accommodation combined into one, you can chase waterfalls along the South Coast, detour to a remote hot spring, or linger to watch the Northern Lights without being tied to a fixed hotel itinerary. This flexibility is the cornerstone of the slow travel mindset, allowing for spontaneous discoveries and a deeper connection with the raw nature that defines the island. Your journey begins the moment you leave the depot, with iconic sights like the Blue Lagoon just a short drive away.
A motorhome hire can also be a very value-focused way to experience Iceland, particularly for small groups or families. Consolidating lodging, transport, and cooking facilities significantly reduces three of the largest travel expenses. Having an onboard kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals with groceries from local stores, offering a delicious and affordable alternative to dining out for every meal. This self-sufficiency not only saves money but also enhances the adventure, turning a simple dinner into a memorable experience with a backdrop of glaciers, volcanoes, or serene fjords right outside your window. On the routes offered through RV PLANET routes, you can itemize and track every expense along the way for easy budgeting.

Driving a motorhome in Iceland is a unique and rewarding experience, and Keflavík is an excellent, low-stress starting point. The main roads, including the famous Ring Road (Route 1), are generally well-maintained and easy to navigate, especially during the summer months. However, it's important to be aware of Iceland's specific driving conditions, such as single-lane bridges, gravel roads, and the potential for sudden weather changes. Understanding the rules for F-roads (mountain roads, which often require specific vehicle types) and being prepared for wind and rain are crucial for a safe journey. Our guides provide all the essential information you need to feel confident behind the wheel.

Iceland's network of campgrounds makes it an ideal destination for an RV rental adventure. From full-service sites with electricity and shower facilities to more rustic locations in stunning natural settings, there's a spot to suit every travel style. Most towns have a designated campground, making it easy to plan your overnight stops. While wild camping is heavily restricted in Iceland to protect its fragile environment, the abundance of official sites ensures you're never far from a safe and scenic place to park for the night. We recommend using the Camping Card for affordable access to dozens of sites across the country. Our guides detail the best options near Keflavík and beyond.

Hello, Receiving the caravan was efficient and quick. At moments I felt it was a bit too fast.. lots of complex information about operating the various systems to take in over a half-hour explanation.. lucky my husband is a mechanical engineer and managed to handle the various systems.. I'm not sure everyone would manage. They didn't check with us the covers for opening the slide-outs. The day after pickup, while driving, we heard a noise and it turned out the fabric over the slide-out came loose. There was damage and there was a feeling that this was "dropped" on us, and we had to pay $1,000 deductible for the damage. They weren't willing to hear anything. Stiff in their approach and not very pleasant. I recommend taking out a deductible-cancellation insurance for cases like this. We had a few issues (electricity that didn't work, water pump that didn't work). We contacted the number they gave us and they helped us by phone.. it took about an hour.. they gave good service.
Reliability and availability. You get what you buy — there's no hiding of information, everything is written and accessible. We're pleased with the caravan we got, and with the price too!
Bandana Company — excellent service and reliability.
