Latvia's compact size and remarkably diverse geography make it an ideal motorhome hire destination. Over half the country is covered by lush forests, complemented by a 500-kilometer Baltic Sea coastline that features some of Europe's most beautiful and uncrowded beaches. This unique landscape means you can drive from the dense woodlands of Gauja National Park to the serene white sands of the coast in just a few hours, experiencing a profound sense of natural immersion.
A motorhome rental offers unparalleled freedom to embrace the slow travel mindset. Forget rigid schedules and hotel check-ins; your home is on wheels, allowing you to linger in the medieval towns of Kuldīga and Cēsis, explore the unique culture of the Latgale region (the "Land of Blue Lakes"), and wake up to the sounds of nature. This flexible approach fosters a deeper, more authentic connection with Latvia's landscapes, history, and local life, turning a simple vacation into a memorable exploration.
Understanding the costs associated with a motorhome hire in Latvia is the first step in planning your adventure. Prices are influenced by several factors: the time of year, the size and class of the vehicle, and how far in advance you book. High season (July and August) sees the highest demand, while the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn offer more affordable rates and quieter roads. Our guides break down these variables to help you find a value-focused option that fits your travel style. We provide detailed analyses of what to expect, helping you plan without any surprises.
Latvia's main roads are generally well-maintained, making for a smooth driving experience, while rural roads invite a slower pace and reveal hidden gems. There are no motorway tolls for passenger vehicles, including motorhomes, which simplifies travel planning. Driving an RV is similar to driving a large van; the key is to allow for extra space when turning and braking. With a standard car license, you are legally permitted to drive any rental motorhome. Our detailed driving guides cover local traffic laws, parking etiquette in cities like Riga and Liepāja, and advice for navigating both paved highways and scenic gravel roads with confidence. On the routes offered through RV PLANET routes, you can itemize and track every expense along the way for easy budgeting.

Latvia's camping infrastructure is robust and welcoming to motorhome travelers. You'll find a wide range of official campgrounds, from full-service sites with modern amenities near popular attractions to more rustic, nature-focused spots within national parks. Many are located in stunning settings: along the Baltic coast, on the banks of rivers, or deep within serene forests. For those seeking more solitude, Latvia's State Forest service (LVM) permits responsible wild camping in many designated areas, offering a chance to truly connect with the country's pristine nature. Our guide to camping helps you find the perfect place to park for the night.

With a motorhome, you are the architect of your own Latvian adventure. Our curated route plans are designed as flexible starting points, not rigid schedules. You can follow the classic route through Gauja National Park, trace the expansive Baltic coastline from the Lithuanian to the Estonian border, or venture east to the tranquil Latgale region. A week-long trip allows you to explore one or two regions in depth, while a two-week adventure opens up the entire country. These itineraries are packed with suggestions for scenic drives, must-see attractions, and recommended overnight stops, all designed to support a slow-travel pace.

We've booked caravans through Bandana 10 times already: Canada, the USA, Scandinavia, Croatia, Iceland, Romania, and Poland. We received excellent service. Tip: when planning the trip, it's important to book the flight and the caravan as close to each other as possible after checking availability. Pay attention to how much a kilometer package costs and how much a single km costs — it's better to book a bit less than what you think. Also check the cost of buying kitchen and bedding equipment in the destination country versus renting. You can of course also bring it from home. Sometimes renting is more expensive than buying (but renting has the convenience that you don't have to go shopping).
It was a perfect trip! We got a new, clean, and practical caravan, perfect comfort, and excellent service from Avi at the start and during the trip, and also at the pickup and return of the caravan abroad. No doubt I'll turn to Avi again in the future.
Courteous and professional service. For us this was the first time in a caravan and everything worked like clockwork. The caravan was as described in detail on the website, the company we rented from is serious and courteous and not "out to get" the customer. The fine print of the rental was made clear by Bandana. The rental experience is very positive — it was a fun and rich trip. To Avi Bandana — thanks, appreciation, and keep on excelling!
