Yukon is home to just over 40,000 people, a population spread across a territory larger than California. This immense, sparsely populated landscape is what makes a motorhome hire the ultimate way to experience the "Land of the Midnight Sun." An RV rental gives you unparalleled freedom to travel on your own schedule, linger at a stunning viewpoint, or change your plans to follow a sunny weather forecast. You can wake up to a new lakeside view each morning, prepare meals with local ingredients in your own kitchen, and have all your comforts with you as you explore some of North America's most iconic and remote highways. For ideas you can prep on the road, watch our RV-friendly recipes playlist on YouTube.
Embracing a slow-travel mindset is key to a rewarding Yukon adventure. The distances are vast, and the true magic lies not just in the destinations but in the journey itself. A motorhome allows you to fully immerse yourself in the wilderness, stopping for wildlife sightings, spontaneous hikes, or simply to absorb the silence of the boreal forest. It transforms your trip from a simple vacation into a genuine exploration, creating a basecamp on wheels that connects you directly with the raw, untamed beauty of the north. It’s about the freedom to discover what lies around the next bend in the road.

The cost of a Yukon motorhome hire is influenced by several key factors, including the time of year, the size of the vehicle, and how far in advance you book. The peak season of July and August sees the highest demand and prices, while the shoulder seasons of June and September can offer more affordable rates. Booking your RV rental many months ahead is the best strategy for securing both the vehicle you want and the most attractive pricing. Our curated guides below break down the costs in detail, helping you plan a trip that aligns with your financial plans and travel style. We focus on helping you find the best value for your adventure.
Yukon's road network features legendary routes like the Alaska Highway and the Dempster Highway, offering some of the most scenic drives on the continent. While major highways are generally paved and well-maintained during the summer, you should be prepared for long stretches between service stations and potential encounters with wildlife on the road. Driving a motorhome is straightforward, but it requires a bit more awareness of your vehicle's size, especially on narrower sections or in windy conditions. Cellular service can be spotty outside of major towns, so planning your fuel stops and downloading offline maps is a wise precaution for any extended road trip.

Yukon offers a fantastic network of over 40 government-run campgrounds, which are celebrated for their stunning natural settings, spacious sites, and affordable fees. These campgrounds typically provide basic amenities like fire pits, picnic tables, and outhouses, with free firewood often included. For those seeking full hookups (water, electricity, and sewer), numerous private RV parks are available in and around communities like Whitehorse, Dawson City, and Watson Lake. Many travelers mix and match, enjoying the rustic charm of territorial parks and the convenience of private facilities. Booking in advance is recommended for popular spots during peak season, but the sheer number of options means you can often find a beautiful place to park for the night.
A well-planned route is the foundation of an unforgettable Yukon RV adventure. Popular route plans include the Golden Circle Route, which loops through Yukon and into Alaska, and the historic Klondike Highway from Whitehorse to the gold rush town of Dawson City. For the more adventurous, the Dempster Highway offers a gravel-road journey to the Arctic Circle. A great itinerary balances driving days with time for exploration, ensuring you don't feel rushed. Consider a week-long trip to cover one major route or a two-week adventure to explore multiple regions. Our detailed route plans provide day-by-day suggestions for stops, attractions, and campgrounds to help you make the most of your time.
Renting a motorhome for the first time in a place as wild as Yukon can feel daunting, but a little preparation goes a long way. Before you leave the depot, pay close attention during the vehicle orientation; learn how to manage the water, propane, and electrical systems. Plan to provision your main groceries in Whitehorse, as stores in smaller communities have limited selection. Pack in layers, as Yukon weather can change rapidly, even in summer. Most importantly, be flexible. A road closure or a fantastic, unplanned photo opportunity is part of the adventure. Our guides for beginners are packed with practical advice to build your confidence and ensure a stress-free trip. On the routes offered through RV PLANET routes, you can itemize and track every expense along the way for easy budgeting.

Hi Avi. We're back. It was excellent, even though I forgot to order all the equipment. We picked up the caravan in Vienna through the Budapest station. I understand the need to economize on staff, but the people who brought the caravan didn't really have a clue. Lucky I have experience and didn't really need explanations. Friends of ours took the same exact caravan with the same people who were supposed to explain, and for them it was their first time. They had a similar experience to ours. I was on the line with them through all the explanations. In my opinion, the people who deliver the caravan in the case of Vienna have to be more on top of the material. They were very polite, patient, and nice, but they should know the material better.
The service I received from Avi was excellent, and this isn't the first time I've enjoyed his services and rented a motor caravan through him. But this time, the vehicle was 5 years old, the air vent above the driver's cab was torn and made noise in the wind while driving — the noise was unbearable. The microwave/oven didn't work, even when connected to 110 V. The vehicle training was rushed and incomplete. The radio was outdated, with the option to listen to CDs but no USB connection, which prevented us from listening to music. I hope my response and disappointment will reach, through you, whoever needs it and "wake them up." I'll continue to use your services in the future — traveling in a motor caravan upgrades the experience. Best regards, Dani
Courteous and pleasant service from the very first moment of inquiry, even before booking, and through to issues that arose during our stay abroad. We had a very good experience interacting with Avi. The training in the offices on the simulator was excellent and really lowers the worries before a first drive.
